Overview

Gorilla Logic is pleased to introduce an exclusive training course for our employees, offered by Modernist Studio’s design leadership, focused on Product Design Storytelling. This training is limited to ten participants, and will help you gain new skills to support your current role, and to open doors to new roles at Gorilla Logic in the future.

What You’ll Learn

This course introduces the idea of Storytelling in driving innovations and product design decisions for our clients. You’ll learn

  • How to elevate design from being a tactical discipline that makes things to a strategic discipline that sets a vision
  • How to design in a way that supports positive experiences, rather than just individual features or requirements
  • How to create a highly visual, persuasive argument for new ideas
  • How to convince your clients to pursue specific innovations

About Your Instructor

This course is taught by Jon Kolko. Jon is the Head of Studio at Modernist in Austin, Texas.

He was previously the Vice President of Design at Blackboard, the largest educational software company in the world. He joined Blackboard with the acquisition of MyEdu, a startup focused on helping students succeed in college and get jobs.

Jon has also held the positions of Executive Director of Design Strategy at Thinktiv, a venture accelerator in Austin, Texas, and both Principal Designer and Associate Creative Director at frog design, a global innovation firm. He has been a Professor of Interaction and Industrial Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he was instrumental in building both the Interaction and Industrial Design undergraduate and graduate programs. Jon has also held the role of Director for the Interaction Design Association (IxDA), and Editor-in-Chief of interactions magazine, published by the ACM. He is regularly asked to participate in high-profile conferences and judged design events, including the 2013 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards. He has taught at the University of Texas at Austin, the Center for Design Studies of Monterrey, in Mexico, and Malmö University, in Sweden.

Jon is the author of six books, including Well Designed: How to use Empathy to Create Products People Love, Published by Harvard Business Review Press.

How to Apply

This training is limited to ten participants, who will be selected based on the quality of their application. If you would like to be considered, please complete the application form.

You’ll be asked to include an example of something you’ve made at Gorilla Logic that you are proud of; think about a set of screens, features, presentations, prototypes, requirement documents, or any other artifact that highlights what you are currently excelling at.
